Bradford is a premium, fully accredited Cambridge International School based in Midrand, Johannesburg. Located in the serene and picturesque equestrian estates of Glen Austin in Midrand, our magical campuses offer a home away from the busy and buzz of the city and provide peaceful environs ideal for nurturing young minds. The Glen Austin Estate is one of the last known ecologically protected areas in the greater Johannesburg Metropolitan, with a rich biodiversity. Conservationists argue that it is one of the last known homes to the African Bullfrog and other closely protected species of flora and fauna that our students interact with- a doorstep away from their classes.
At Bradford, we are committed to offering a personalised learning journey for every student from early years to pre-university based on their individual needs and interests. At the heart of Bradford lies the rigorous and world-renowned Cambridge International Education. We embrace the Cambridge Curriculum from as early as one-year-olds in our Cambridge Early Years Centres (Vorna Valley and Glen Austin) through Cambridge Primary School (Grades 1 to 6), Cambridge Lower Secondary (Grades 7 to 8), through to Upper Secondary (Grades 9 and 10). Academic excellence at Bradford extends to the distinguished Cambridge International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE, also known as Ordinary Levels).
The IGCSE is a globally recognised qualification and an ideal foundation for Upper-Level courses. Students taking the IGCSE engage with a tailored international curriculum designed to meet the challenges of a rapidly changing world, actively promoting academic and personal development while preparing them for both the Advanced Subsidiary Level (AS Level, Grades 11- 12) and the Advanced Level (Pre-University).

Early Years

General Information
Communication
The transition from home to school is a significant milestone for both children and parents, even when students have already experienced preschool education. At Bradford, we are committed to making this change as smooth and comfortable as possible by fostering strong communication between home and school.
We encourage parents to meet regularly with the class teacher to discuss their child’s progress and development. These conversations help us work together to support each student’s growth and happiness.
We also value open dialogue. If you ever feel the need to discuss any aspect of your child’s development or well-being, you can be assured that we will make time for you. Equally, we ask parents to share with us any circumstances at home that may affect a child’s emotional state, such as illness in the family, the loss of a pet, or disrupted sleep. By understanding the whole picture, we can provide the care and support your child needs to feel secure and thrive.
Uniforms
All students wear school uniforms, which fosters confidence and pride in their appearance. Our students feel a stronger sense of belonging to their new community, united by a shared identity. Beyond the classroom, uniforms help prepare them for the formal and professional environments they will encounter in the future. Our Uniform Shop is situated at the Glen Austin Campus.
Assessments and Parent-Teacher Meetings
We differentiate learning according to your child’s development and individual needs and track the children’s progress throughout the year.
Assessment Reports are issued twice a year, at the end of Term 2 and at the end of the year. Upon issue of reports, parents will have one-on-one meetings with teachers to discuss progress as well as any concerns with their child/ren.
Consultations with parents are held as follows:
- At the beginning of Term One to discuss your child’s settling in.
- At the beginning of Term Three to discuss your child’s mid-year report.
- During any of the school terms should it be required either by the teacher or parents
Operational Days and Times
Our CEY Centres are open from Mondays to Fridays, excluding all public holidays. The operating times are from 6.30 am to 5.30 pm. The daily learning program commences at 8 a.m. and ends at 12.30 p.m. Children who remain for the full day are engaged in structured play and fun activities. This is particularly beneficial to families for whom alternative arrangements would otherwise need to be made for the care of children who could not be at home at such times. If you are unable to collect your child due to unforeseen circumstances, you can be assured that your child will be in great care.
